My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tek is a 3-year-old red and white male Siberian Husky whose back leg had swelled to about four times the size of his other leg and it had been this way for over a year. Several veterinarians were contacted by Tek’s previous owner but none could diagnose him without very expensive tests. We took Tek to our vet at Belleville Animal Hospital to get his opinion. We were told that no matter what was wrong with his leg, it had been this way for so long that it would never go back to normal and it had to be amputated.

Tek's surgery cost approximately $1,500 but we are happy to report that he is doing very well. Tek had an infiltrating lipoma in his leg, a fatty tumor that invades the muscle and bones. Fortunately, it was contained in the leg and removing the leg saved his life! He runs and plays now and doesn't miss that leg so we don't tell him that he is a tripod! You can read his story and view the latest video of him running and jumping in/out of the pool on our website www.cthaa.org. Tek is now ready to go to a new home! This boy loves to run and play outside for a little while but his favorite place is on the couch. He is a loving (but spoiled) house dog. He doesn't like to be crated so he is loose inside his foster home all of the time and gets along well with the other dogs. He is house trained.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm tested, on heartworm preventative year-round, and microchipped for identification. A fenced yard is required to adopt any of our dogs and the height must be a minimum of 5 feet. We do not adopt dogs to homes with invisible fences.

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out and submit our online application. Vet and personal references will be checked and a home visit is required.
