My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Doc, an acrobatic cat who will twirl his way into your heart!

Doc is an active boy who loves to play with wand toys. We have seen him flip and twirl as he plays with enthusiasm! He is a bit shy with new people at first, but he has happily accepted head and body pets when he’s given a tasty treat or while playing with him.

As Doc is getting to know you, playtime is a great way to spend time together. After a play session, Doc enjoys being stroked with a wand toy, especially if something yummy is offered at the same time, like lickable treats. When he first moves into a new home, he will be happiest in a quiet room, spending quality time with you as he settles in. Your patience will pay off as Doc warms up to you – he’ll be your playful kitty companion soon enough!

  • Doc would probably do best in a home with teens and up.
  • Adopters should use a slow approach and avoid forced interactions with Doc.
  • Doc has previously lived with other cats, but it is unknown if he enjoyed their company.
  • An Admissions and Placement Specialist can give you tips to help set Doc up for success in your home.

**The ASPCA is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the community, the animals in our care and our staff, and we are keeping a close eye on developments related to the COVID-19 crisis as they evolve. As such, the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is currently closed for in-person visitors. However, we are excited to offer remote adoptions using video conferencing! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet.

More about this shelter

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Our organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.
