My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy Listing
Tom's owner passed away at the end of June 2024. Tom is approximately 1 year and 4 months old and weighs 37 pounds. He appears to be an Australian Cattle Dog/Lab mix. Tom enjoys a lot of long naps and he is not a barker, but he howls when sad. Tom plays great with the small dogs in his foster home. He is loving, loyal, sincere, and playful with the adults and older child (12) in the home. He has shown some fear and some aggression toward the smaller child who is 4. Tom prefers being inside most of the day but tolerates being outdoors. He does enjoy going outdoors to play; he loves fetch! He does not know how to walk well with a harness and leash but he is learning! Tom has a vet appointment on July 23 and will be brought up to date on vaccinations and heartworm tested. Tom's adoption donation is $250.
If you are interested in this awesome guy, please fill out an online application, the first step in this process as we want to be sure he goes to a loving and responsible home. You can find a copy of that application here.
An application does not obligate you to take him, but it does show that you are serious about the process. Please remember our organization is staffed completely by volunteers.

Additional adoption info

Our volunteers know our dogs the best, and will be able to make better decisions on animal placements. Just because you are not selected for the animal you apply for, does not mean that you do not have a great home to offer to a rescued animal.

We want the entire family to be a perfect match for a happily ever after story. Once an application for a particular dog is approved the dog's foster parent arranges a meet and greet between the dog and the prospective adopter; however, there is no obligation to adopt.

All of our dogs are fully vetted prior to adoption. Many of the dogs coming into our program are somewhat lacking in the social graces and our foster parents help them begin their life changing journey of developing into your dream dog. We try to match each of our animals to the perfect home, and the perfect home to one of our dogs.

Our adoption fees vary from dog to dog, most fees range from 195.00 to 500.00. All of the dogs in our care are supported only by donations. All of the adoption donations we collect are spent in full on the care of the animals in our group, such as food, vetting, and heartworm preventative, spot on flea and tick preventative, and any other medicine that might be required by the vet.

Any dog that tests positive for heart worm is treated by means of a conservative protocol, which consists of a normal monthly dose of Ivermectin based heartworm preventive. Dogs on this protocol test Heartworm Negative in 1-2 years. Puppies that are too young to be spayed/neutered will be adopted on a contract that the adopter will have it completed by 6 months of age or per their veterinarian. All dogs and puppies 12 weeks and older will have a rabies vaccination.

These dogs are not inexpensive to rescue but they are our passion, we will do all we can do give them a happy ending to a very sad beginning. We love our dogs and no matter what happens in the future if you cannot care for them we do require that they be returned to us. 10 days or 10 years, it does not matter. We are honest and supportive; we will be here if you need us.

Go meet their pets

We are not a city shelter and our dogs are not housed in a shelter or central location where the general public can meet them. All of our dogs are kept in private foster homes throughout central AR.
