My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*HIDDEN GEM* Sokka is considered a hidden gem, since he requires appointments for a first introduction. The reason for this is to limit Sokka's stress. Instead of being out in our main lobby with lots of noises and new faces, Sokka is in a calm and quiet employee-only area of the shelter. Please call us at (208) 883-1166 if you're interested in meeting this sweet guy!

Meet Sokka! Sokka is estimated to be around 4.5 years old. He was surrendered to HSoP after suffering from prolonged urinary issues in his previous home. The vets at Animal Clinic confirmed what his previous vet believed, that his urinary issues were being caused by stress in the home. This meant that Sokka needed a new, calmer and quieter environment to ensure he could stay healthy.

Sokka is very sensitive to stress, and takes a daily dose of gabapentin to help with this. He used to have two doses a day, but has improved to only need one! The gabapentin helps him feel more comfortable in the unfamiliar shelter environment.

The main thing that Sokka needs is a calm and relaxed home that he can feel safe and stress-free in. Ideally, Sokka would like an adult-only home with no other pets. We can't say for certain how he does with cats and dogs, but his sensitivity to stress tells us that he would likely feel more at peace on his own.

Despite his nervous demeanor, Sokka is actually a lovely and affectionate cat. He's a social eater, meaning he likes to eat when being watched or talked to, and truly seems happy to have visits from his human friends. Sokka would make a wonderful companion, and we are hoping that he can find his person soon.

Since Sokka is so sensitive to stress, we're keeping him in a calmer and quieter area of our cat kennels, which happens to be employee-only. If you would like to meet Sokka and see if he's a good match for you, please call us at (208) 883-1166 to schedule an appointment.

Sokka is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and will leave HSoP with a microchip containing his new owner's information. His adoption fee is $100.
