My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Hazel was brought in by a community member on July 2, 2024.

Why Hazel is the one for you:
Meet Hazel! Hazel is a sweet, shy girl who takes time to come out of her shell, but once she warms up, she's all about being with her favorite people. She is looking for a calm, patient home where she can feel safe and secure without too much hustle and bustle. Due to Hazel's shy nature, she would do best in a home without any children under the age of 8. With a bit of love and understanding, Hazel will be your devoted sidekick. If you're looking for a furry friend who will blossom with a bit of TLC, Hazel is the perfect match for you! Don't forget to bring a leash and collar and come meet Hazel at our Oceanside Campus today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
