My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Could YOU be Bluey’s perfect adopter? Bluey came to us as a stray back in July. He can be shy around new people but is fun and playful when he gets comfortable! Bluey is quiet and observant and seems like a smart pup. He has met a couple of dogs on-leash, and enjoys playing with the other dogs through the fence in our exercise yard. Bluey is going to need some patience in his new home, and would do best with gentle older kiddos who respect his timid demeanor. He may take a few days to come around, but we promise he’s worth the try!

Any kids or dogs at home will need to come meet him. We can cat test if needed!

Additional adoption info

The Marion County Dog Pound is now under the control of the Marion County Sheriff's Office and is located at 2252 Richland Road. We are required by law to hold a dog for 3 days to allow the owner to claim the dog. If it is not claimed, it will then be an adoptable dog. We will post all adoptable dogs on our Facebook page along with pictures. The adoption fee is $135 which includes the spay/neuter surgery, Heartworm test, rabies, Intra-trac, and DAPP Vaccines, and a dog tag. We are a rescue friendly facility and do not charge a pull fee, rescues are more than welcome to make a donation when pulling a vetted dog but it is not required.

Dogs are as is. There are no health guarantees
Adopters are required to sign an agreement to spay/neuter the dog if not already done, the dog may be seized if any portion of the adoption contract is broken.

More about this shelter

The Marion County Dog Pound is a county facility that is run by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. We respond to stray/loose dogs and Humane cases, bringing in several dogs a week. Since the Sheriff's Office took over, we have became classified as a no-kill facility only euthanizing for sickness and aggression. We are doing our best to maintain a no-kill environment and are working diligently to help and re-home every dog that comes through our doors. To do this we need the help of our community. Volunteers are welcome to come out at any time!
