May 2023 addendum: Tootie's adopter who had him for over a year died in March of 2023. We were asked by his family to find a new home for him He is back at the TAL foster care and adoption center and is well adjusted. We feel that he is ready for a new owner. He is a loving cat who craves hands on attention. Still is reserved in new situations but given a little time in a new home, he ill be a wonderful companion and pet.

I was rescued from downtown Texarkana when very young, and cared for in the home of a foster, but I am very, very shy. I'm neutered, microchipped, and have had all my 1st year vaccines. Tootie is a very sweet kitten, and will do well in a quiet environment with lots of love & attention. He and his sister, Koko, are very attached to each other. She is very sensitive. Do not recommend children or dogs.

All of our adoptable animals are up to date on routine vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered. If the animal is too young a certificate for the spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee. Please CLICK HERE to complete our online adoption application.

Potential adopters can fill out our adoption application through our website. Approved adopters are required to sign an adoption contract.

All animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped.

More about this rescue

Texarkana Animal League (TAL) is a group of volunteers that is dedicated to improving the welfare of animals in our shelter & community. We operate out of a facility where both cats and dogs are sheltered until they find their forever home. Some of our animals are also in foster homes.

Our mission is to provide protection and care for abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted companion animals. We also want to promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people.

All proceeds benefit animal care and adoptions, and assist with our community outreach programs such as a low-income spay/neuter assistance program (SNAP), as well as educational and service projects to assist TAL's belief that all animals are deserving of life, respect and care.

In 2017, we altered almost 300 animals in the community with our SNAP Program.
