My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Milo is a 1-year-old Lab mix

Milo came to us as a stray in July. Milo is a big, friendly guy with a lot of love to give, but he needs a home that can provide him with the consistency, training, and leadership he requires to thrive.

Milo is an incredibly smart dog—he learns quickly and has a lot of potential—but he has not had the benefit of basic training or boundaries in his early life. As a result, he tends to jump, mouth, and get overly excited in certain situations. He’s also struggled with respecting personal space and can be a bit overwhelming if not managed properly. Milo is not a `turnkey` dog; he needs an experienced, adult-only home where he can get the structure and training he needs to succeed.

Milo has been returned to the shelter twice due to behavioral issues, so we are looking for a committed adopter who understands the challenges of working with a dog who has not yet learned proper socialization and impulse control. He is not a dog for first-time owners—he needs someone who is patient, consistent, and ready to invest time and effort into his training and rehabilitation.

A few important notes about Milo:

High prey drive: Milo cannot live with small animals or cats.
Dog selective: He has a history of being picky with other dogs, so he should be the only dog in the home.
Needs strong leadership: Milo will thrive in a home where his owners are confident, experienced, and can provide clear boundaries and structure.
Despite his challenges, Milo is a sweet and loving dog who has so much potential to be a loyal companion. He’s looking for a dedicated adopter who can give him the chance he deserves. If you’re an experienced dog owner who’s ready to work with a dog like Milo, he could be the perfect fit for you.

If you think you could be the right match for Milo, please come meet him today. He’s waiting for a second chance—and with the right home, he could truly shine.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an pre-adoption application. If that application is approved, the dog/cat must be spayed/neutered before it leaves our shelter (if not already done). If it is a puppy under 4 months old, we allow it to go home with the adopters under a foster care agreement until it is old enough to be returned for spay/neuter. Kittens are allowed to leave before spay/neuter is done, but they must be done within a certain time frame.
Fees: Dogs/puppies range from $150-300, depending on if they came in already spayed/neutered or if we paid to have that done.
Cats range from $80 - $140, though we often have deals on older cats or cats that have been there a long time.
Kittens are $60 with $25 refunded once it has been spayed/neutered.
All adoptions include at least the first vaccination, deworming, de-fleaing, microchip ID, and 6 weeks of pet insurance.
