My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more.

Are you looking for a loyal companion who enjoys long walks (probably on the beach) and evenings spent snuggled on the couch watching a movie? Well look no further - Dodo is your guy!

A few words that describe Dodo: sweet, loyal, intelligent, friendly, cuddly. Dodo is crate trained, knows sit, stay, off, drop it (sometimes), drools patiently while waiting for his meals, and isn't big on barking or vegetables. He loves treats, chewing on chew toys, gets along well with other large dogs, and has been a perfect gentleman at the vet. He's very intelligent, patient, eager to please, and his eyeliner game is unmatched.

Dodo is learning down, heel, and still needs a little work on the leash - he just gets too excited to meet new dog and human friends! Dodo can be a bit wary of male presenting people at first. He has some allergies, and takes daily medication for itchiness. It's unknown if Dodo would be a good fit around small pets; while he's a gentle giant, his size and enthusiasm might frighten smaller dogs. While Dodo hasn't interacted directly with children, he does seem irritated by small humans, and likely wouldn't be a good fit in a home with small/young kids. Unlike the bird, Dodo is not extinct and is ready for his forever family!
Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.

** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate your understanding and patience. **
