My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Susie is a beautiful female 4 1/2 year long legged hound that currently weighs 50ish pounds. She is abit on the thin side right now likely due to kennel stress but her appetite certainly hasnt suffered.

We were told she is shy at first, but she didn't seem that way to us! For her photo session, she immediately came over to our volunteer for pets and lovin. Talk about being a leaner! Check out the video in her profile where you see just how affectionate and sweet she is! It was a magical tender moment. This girl obviously loves people.

Susie is very food oriented so if you give her a couple of treats she will not leave your side. She likes to be fed in her own spot . She is good with older kids, but young ones are likely a bit too energetic for her taste. She also loves car rides and running and chilling in the shade. She seems friendly with other dogs too. She does like to chase cats, so a no kitty household would be best.

Susie is used to being in a home and is confused on what happened. She came to canine collective with her canine buddy Roo (they dont have to be adopted together) which helps but she really wants a family to give her love. If you think this gal may be for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
