My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roo is a sweet almost 4 year lemon Pointer hound He's a big solid boy at 99 lbs and we think he may have some yellow lab and hound, but don't know for sure without a DNA test. When you meet Roo he will tell you his name!

Roo loves hugs, dancing, and belly rubs. Check out the video in his profile where he is in heaven. He is just a big guy with a bigger heart. Roo likes chasing birds but nothing bigger than a cow. He does not like horses! He also does not like big cameras cause they look scary!. He is excellent with other dogs and kids and displays good manners when company comes over - he ignores them! House Trained, leash trained, and crate trained!!!

Roo came to canine collective with his buddy Susie, but they don't have to be adopted together. He is used to being in a home, but has adapted fairly well and is at a healthy weight. He is definitely a food hog!

If you think Roo is your kinda guy, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
