My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Buddy, a sweet and super intelligent 7-year-old mix-breed boy with a heart full of love and a head full of smarts. Buddy has not only mastered basic commands but has excelled in his training, earning certificates in beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses. This clever pup is not just smart; he's a shining star when it comes to learning and adapting. His impeccable manners and doggie door training make him an absolute joy to have around the house.

Buddy's life has been filled with love and adventure. Adopted from us in 2018, he quickly became the center of his mom's world. Their bond was unbreakable, and they shared countless cherished moments together. Buddy's mom loved him so deeply that she chose to spend her final days at home with him rather than in a care facility, ensuring he felt her love until the very end. Her devotion to Buddy speaks volumes about the kind of loyal and loving companion he is.

Since his mom's passing, Buddy has returned to us, and while we are grateful to be his safety net, we know that what Buddy needs most is a new forever home where he can once again bask in the affection and warmth of a loving family. This gentle giant, weighing in at around 85 pounds, is a big bundle of love looking for someone to share his golden years with. At his age, Buddy is a chill and laid-back kind of guy, making him the perfect companion for a quieter household.

Buddy is looking for a home without small children, where he can relax and enjoy his days in peace. He has lived harmoniously with a cat and a small dog, proving his adaptability and gentle nature. Buddy's story is one of unwavering love and loyalty, and he is ready to bring that same devotion to a new family. If you're looking for a well-mannered, loving, and intelligent companion, Buddy is waiting to meet you and become your new best friend.

More about this rescue

The vision for ACT has been brewing in the minds of the Animal Compassion Team founders for many years. The paths we have walked have prepared us and tested our determination through hard work, buckets of tears, mountains of fecal matter (a favorite topic of discussion amongst animal rescuers), and more than our fair share of discouragement and heartbreak. Having said that, why would we choose to dive in deeper? For the love of the animals we serve. It is just that simple. Dogs, cats, and other wonderful animals are dying in huge numbers daily. We hope to help change that. In August of 2009, we became a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with California and the Federal Government. It was and continues to be, a huge leap of faith for all of us who already feel overwhelmed by the work we are doing, but we believe this is the time....this is what we have all been preparing for. One life saved makes all the effort and emotional investment worthwhile. This is going to be an exciting journey, and we hope to post MANY happy endings.

Our Mission Statement:

To provide a safe haven for domestic animals, regardless of breed or species, through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and sanctuary. To advocate for the humane treatment of animals and promote the human-animal bond. To educate the public about the importance of kindness, compassion, and responsible pet ownership which will emphasize spaying and neutering. To cooperate and work with other animal rescues and shelters towards the goal of becoming a no-kill nation.
