My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pluto is one of our previous rescues who’s coming back to us soon. He originally came from Bakersfield, CA.

Pluto was adopted 6 months ago, in a local home here in San Diego, CA. Pluto’s adopter will have to unforeseen relocate overseas soon, for a long term period, and won’t be able to take Pluto, unfortunately.

Here’s what Pluto’s current owner says about him:

“Since I’ve adopted Pluto we’ve mastered basic commands though he's definitely not a fan of training and would rather play. He enjoys his outside time either lounging in the sun but more often running laps around the yard or playing fetch (though you can only stand in one particular spot otherwise it can be hot or miss). He has become accustomed to an early morning walk. He still struggles with his social anxiety. He is house broken for the most part. We will have incidents from time to time when I make a departure from our schedule. When it happens he defaults to relieving himself in the laundry room despite access to the backyard. He otherwise will sometimes whimper when I’m in another room. He still has issues interacting with other dogs though we have made some strides specifically with larger dogs though. He has been a very vocal watchdog to my amusement as well. I haven’t had any reason or concern to take him to the vet in our time together. I’ve given him a monthly dose of heartworm medication. In all he has been a great companion and it kills me to have to give him up.”

We’re now seeking for a new home for Pluto.
Pluto recently turned 3 years old. He’s neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, microchipped, he came back negative on his Flex4 and fecal tests when we originally got him a few months back. He’ll also be up to date on his Heartworm/flea/tick prevention meds. He’s about 25lbs. We’ll also provide some of his current food, leash and collar.

Pluto would do best in a single dog home, or in a home with a female dog(s), the time we fostered him, he wasn’t great with our male dogs, I feel like he’s a dominant boy, who would prefer to be around a female over a male, or by himself. It’d possibly work if the other male is submissive, but would take time to adjust, in that scenario, we could do an adoption trial, to see if it’d work out. He’s been the only dog at his current home, but was living with another female Beagle at his original home. We’ll reevaluate him once he’s back with us, of course. He’s also known to be good around kids, there were kids at his original home in Bakersfield.

If you’d be interested in meeting Pluto to potentially adopt him, feel free to fill out our adoption application.
