Padme is a lovely 3-year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who was surrendered to the HSOV by her owner on July 9, 2024.
Padme has a brown short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with soft brown eyes, a red nose, and short semi-erect ears.
Her owner told us that Padme had been kept indoors during the day and also at night, and that she enjoyed long walks with her family each day. Padme is housetrained. She knows some basic commands (sit, down, and shake paws). Padme had lived with other dogs but has not been around cats. She is frightened of thunder/lightning. Padme has no known behavioral issues. Her favorite activities are cuddling with her people, going to the dog park, and being outdoors.
Padme had been in her home since she was a tiny 5-week old puppy .. But she had an unfortunate incident several weeks ago when she was being protective of her newborn puppies and bit an adult woman (NOT a child) in their household. Padme had never in her life shown any aggressive behavior, but it was decided that she should not remain in the home after her puppies were weaned.
Padme was quite the sweetheart when HSOV Tim Swaney accompanied her for outdoor photos on July 11th. Padme was very relaxed with Tim by her side and demonstrated how she could 'sit pretty' and then decided to stretch out in the green grass for some extra attention.
Padme weighs 44 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash.
This sweet girl will be spayed before being adopted by her new family. Padme could be fostered while she awaits her spay procedure with an approved HSOV adoption/foster application.
UPDATE: We've learned a bit more about Padme which we want to share with potential adopters in order to help her find the perfect home ...
Padme is a super sweet dog who experiences severe separation anxiety (and likely feared that she had been abandoned when left alone for long hours at a time). Padme exhibited her fears by chewing/destroying items in her home (shoes, clothing, furniture, cords, etc). So she would need an individual who would have the patience to help Padme trust that her person would always return home to take care of her.
Padme is also an accomplished 'door dasher' .. If there is an open door, this smart girl sees this as an opportunity to sprint away for an adventurous run in the neighborhood.
Padme is begging for attention and someone special who will give her the loving home which she truly deserves.
UPDATE: Padme was spayed on September 3, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.
