Meet Tripp! Two years-old, 63 pounds, and oh-so-handsome, Tripp is guaranteed to fall in love with every person he meets (and the feeling is ALWAYS mutual)! Tripp`s soulful eyes and lovebug personality have made him a staff and volunteer favorite.
Recently, one of his volunteer pal`s escorted him to an adoption event, where he had a great time greeting people sweetly, gently licking hands, leaning into legs, and offering up his belly for rubs! His volunteer handler reported that polite Tripp kept four paws on the floor and rode very nicely in the back of the car. While Tripp didn`t find his furever home that day, he hasn`t given up hope! To see if he belongs with your family, come meet Tripp today!
Tripps adoption fee is waived. He is neutered and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations. A licensing/microchip fee may apply.

If you have made the careful decision to bring a companion animal into your life, chances are that SFAS&HS has a dog, cat, kitten, puppy, ferret, rabbit, guinea pig, or other fuzzy critter that will match your home and lifestyle.
Matchmaking is an important part of our adoption process, and we pride ourselves on helping hopeful animal lovers find a companion that will fit their lifestyle. Think about how much time you have to spend with a new animal. Think about the time involved: a healthy puppy can live for 15 to 20 years! Remember that settling in a new four-legged family member can take some time and adjustment. Bear in mind that just like us, your companion animal will need food and supplies and have to visit a doctor from time to time.
We invite you to visit our animals in the shelter, at our satellite adoption facility inside PetsMart (3561 Zafarano Drive) or online.Once you have an idea what you’re looking for, one of our adoption counselors will visit with you and share some ideas about which of our residents would be best suited to you.
All animals are spayed or neutered before leaving and receive the required age-appropriate vaccines. The required licenses for city and county residents are available at the shelter as you adopt!
Adoption is a partnership between the adopter, the shelter and the animal. We are committed to making that partnership work for everyone.

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society is the largest animal shelter and care facility in northern New Mexico. More than 6,000 lost, stray, abandoned or injured animals come through our doors each year. As a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we receive nearly all of our funding through private donors in our community and beyond. SFAS&HS contracts with the city and county of Santa Fe to care for homeless and stray animals, as well as those brought through our front doors.
We work to reunite people with their lost animal companions, and re-home those animals that have gone unclaimed into new homes through our adoption program. Low- and no-cost spay/neuter programs address the overpopulation problems that our community faces. Humane education programs in our local schools teach children to respect and care for all living creatures. Partnered with our community, we work for change in the lives of our companion animals and to end the suffering of all animals.
