My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aslan is truly a regal little kitten, and we felt he deserved a name befitting such a majestic creature! This boy is about as sweet as they come, with eyes that could melt the iciest heart. We're still getting to know his full personality now that he's safely out of the shelter and in a loving foster home, but we're sure Aslan will keep growing into the snuggliest and cutest cat this side of Narnia.

We don’t DNA test our kittens, but we think he looks like he could be a Maine coon-type mix. Most cats in the US are made up of a variety of different breeds, and we think Aslan falls into that category as well. Either way, we know he’s 100% cute!

Once you submit an application with RHS, please keep an eye on your spam folder. Our communications often end up mistakenly filtered into applicant's spam folders.

Aslan is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!

Foster-to-Adopt Program Details

  1. We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization

  2. We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted.

  3. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption.

  4. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed.

  5. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.

  6. Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.

  7. Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $125.

RHS Adoption Process and Requirements

  1. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations and on a flea/heartworm preventative. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit by an RHS representative.

  2. Phone Interview. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview.

  3. Home Visit.  If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will coordinate a virtual home visit. We’ll request you send videos/pictures of your home to verify it is safe and welcoming for the cat.

  4. Meet and Greet. Once your home visit is complete, we can coordinate a time with you and the foster parent/s to meet the kitty you’re interested in.

  5. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $125 for cats, and payable by Paypal, Venmo, cash, or check. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.
