My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mae! Mae loves car rides (especially when they end in pup cups) and is a dream walking on leash. We don't know exactly what her past looked like, but we know humans must not have been very kind to her. Mae is a gentle girl who may be shy at first, but we have found with time, love and lots of treats she is the most loving and loyal dog. Her foster says she is incredibly smart and a total sweetheart. Mae would do best in a home with another dog to keep building up their confidence and a fenced in yard that is at least 6ft.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Visit www.phpdr.org/adopt to learn more about our adoption process and complete your application.

2.

Home Check

We complete a veterinary reference (if applicable) and home check for each of the dogs adopted through our organization.

Additional adoption info

At the time of adoption, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and heartworm tested as appropriate for age, given flea/tick and heartworm preventative treatment and micro-chipped.

You must be 18+ to adopt and a Missouri resident.

Check your HOA or lease for pet permissions.

We do not adopt out dogs that will be living outside on a chain, in a fenced yard or in an outdoor kennel--that's why our foster volunteers work hard to crate and potty train our dogs so they can live inside as a part of your family!

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are in foster homes while awaiting their forever homes. If you are interested in meeting one of our adoptable dogs, please fill out our application online. We are continuously reviewing applications and will be in touch within 7 days if your application is a good fit! Keep an eye on your email inbox and spam folder, as we will email you to set up a meet and greet with the dog you've applied for.

More about this rescue

People Helping Paws Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is fully volunteer-run and operated. We specialize in pulling pit bulls and bully breeds from kill shelters in our area. We save the most at-risk dogs that have medical or other issues which prevent them from being adopted. Our team works to rehabilitate these pups and give them a proper chance at life! Since our formation, PHPDR has saved over a thousand pets from euthanasia and, with your support, we continue to grow in the number of lives we save!

In addition to our foster/adoption program, we want to help keep pets in loving homes. To do this, we provide spay/neutering, medical services and dog food to families in need in our community.
