Location: Decatur, IL

Merida was surrendered to animal control by her owners because they just didn't want her any more. How sad for Merida to have given all her love to a family and then discarded like an old shoe! We agreed to take her in and find her a home that would cherish her!

Merida is a great dog despite whatever she's been through. She came into the home and it was like she had always been here. She learned how to get around quickly and even how to go in and out of the house on her own at times. She is carried out to go potty though every couple if hours during the day. She likes having a kennel to go to at times but usually she just lays anywhere on the floor. She doesn't like being combed or having her face/eyes cleaned. She just wiggles alot but has never been aggressive. She doesn't like to be held too long. She decides how much cuddling she gets. She's pretty independent. She does love treats and mealtime. Since having her teeth removed she gets her food softened and only soft treats. She can see just unsure how much but she follows me through the house. She is also deaf.

Merida's adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, received a dental and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
