My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frank's Red Hot is a sweet, mellow tripod who would love to spend time relaxing the day away with you! She loves lounging in her little bunny bed and taking an afternoon snooze. She's cautious around people but will accept pets after a while. She needs a patient adopter who can shower her with love and give her the time and space to become more comfortable with people. In return, Frank's Red Hot will provide quality companionship with no mess.

Says a recent foster, "No leg. No problem! Frank's Red Hot is living her best bunny life without one of her hind legs, and would be the perfect addition to a household that appreciates a slower pace and wants to spend time lounging with her. Frank's Red Hot is very polite around new people and approaches interactions with gentleness and curiosity. Frank's Red Hot is the perfect pet to lounge with all day. She is wonderfully mellow and enjoys laying on her blanket by the window on sunny days. She also loves relaxing on the bed for an evening movie and is a great study buddy who will chill by you while working from home or doing homework. Frank's Red Hot is the cleanest rabbit I've ever met - she immediately fell in love with her litter box which she happily flops in frequently.

Frank's Red Hot prefers tranquility over toys, spending her time sunbathing and snoozing. While she may not engage in active playtime with her three legs, she is blissfully the least destructive bunny ever. I've never had to worry about her chewing on anything other than her hay and treats. She would thrive in a home that has carpet since she is uncomfortable navigating hardwood floors. Frank's Red Hot is simply a gorgeous rabbit. Her soft coat, chubby cheeks and heart-shaped nose are irresistible! She enjoys having her 'eye crusties' removed each morning and is happy to have her ears rubbed. She goes crazy for cilantro, celery and Romaine.

Frank's Red Hot needs a patient home with providers who can offer her a comfortable place to relax and enough space to be by herself. She won't warm up to rubs and cuddles right away, but has zero behavioral issues when it comes to human interaction, thanks to her mellow disposition.

Frank's Red Hot is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

More about this rescue

Since 1988, House Rabbit Society, its supporters, small staff, local chapters, licensed educators, and other volunteers around the globe have been advocating for the care and well-being of rabbits.

Our goal is to help people see rabbits as intelligent and social pets who thrive indoors. HRS’ mission, philosophy, and policies have influenced the formation of many other nonprofit rabbit rescue groups and set a standard for the treatment and respect of domesticated rabbits. As a nonprofit, we rely on membership support and other donations–large and small. HRS financial documents are provided below, which record our programmatic efforts over the past decade.
