Meet Honey!
Honey was rescued as a stray when she was found skin and bones at only 25 pounds in the streets trying to survive. She is currently fostered by her rescuers in a home with several cats, 2 adult humans and a small senior chihuahua. She does interact with children occasionaly.
Honey is sweet as can be, however, we are seaching for a foster or adopter who is knowlegable in dog training and socialization. She needs help with leash reactivity towards both dogs and people, its more fear based and than aggression. Here are some notes from volunteers who have worked with Honey at adoption events:
Her barking trigger is hard to pinpoint. Sometimes she barked at both men and women regardless of height/size. She barked at people who walked by for seemingly no reason one minute and next minute, no barking. Sometimes she barked at both men and women who came up to greet her and other times was totally accepting of the man or woman walking up to pet her. She never pulled at the leash when barking. Seemed the barking was mainly due to insecurity/fear.

We are seeking adopters who are not only experienced as dog handlers but also who will be able to foster her for a couple of weeks before makign the decision to adopt her, we would request foster/adopter signs up wtih a dog trainer prior to taking Honey home to start with leadership, structure, routine and most importantly time to get to know each other.
