My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Saucy! This extra large girl is super sweet - and very strong! This sweet girl is ready to find her forever home!

Please note that Saucy is a LARGE girl, so normal dog gates are not likely to contain her. :) Crates seem to be perfectly fine! She is just able to knock down the types of gates you put in a doorway to block off a room.

More from her current foster: "Saucy (aka Sauce or Sausage) is doing great! She is a super sweet and cuddly girl who just wants to lay in bed all day and play with stuffed toys. She is quite the bed hog but loves to be touching you while she sleeps, either belly up or pressed up against you as much as possible. She does the cutest little happy spins and hops when I come home. She is super low-maintenance in the home. We are working on "leave it when it comes to dogs she sees out on walks as she is reactive. But she does really well if you are proactive when there is another dog. She is timid around men but loves to play tug o war with my boyfriend."

Most recent update from her foster: "Saucy's such a sweetheart! She loves to explore on walks and play, but is also a big couch girl. She enjoys being pet, loves belly rubs, and will sit her big girl self right on your lap if you let her. She doesn't typically like other dogs, but just needs someone who loves big dogs on walks. Saucy has so much love to give, and needs someone who has so much love to give right back to her!

From her current foster: "Saucy the sweetest girl :) When you first meet her she seems very timid, but it doesn't take her long to warm up to you so long as you give her a treat and some scratches. She loves hanging out on the couch, her love language is obviously quality time because once she gets to know you, she rarely leaves your side. She has a hard time on walks as other dogs can make her nervous, but you just have to turn her attention away and she immediately forgets and keeps on walking. Since she is such a big girl it is hard sometimes to keep her from pulling on walks but with a little practice she is great to walk with! She is such a bundle of joy and love, she even spins in circles when she gets excited!

From her previous foster: "She's a complete couch potato that's always down for tummy rubs and cuddles. For play time she LOVES taking dips in the pool and fetching ball. Now because of her size she doesn't like fetching too far, sometimes she gives up if the ball goes further than she'd like so be a lil nicer when you throw for this big ol chunky monkey. She does extremely well in kennels, especially for a gal her size. Just tends to just bundle up in her bed and fall asleep after shes had a good treat. Now she does seem to do alright with small dogs but with male/bigger dogs there's a slight dominance issue I believe. (I haven't tested this out on enough dogs to be sure but I've just seen a pattern with how she does with the guys here).

ADOPTION FEE: $425

We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event.

Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications.

We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend!

All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.

Additional adoption info

We are a foster based rescue, and do not currently have a location. To meet or adopt any of our dogs or puppies you will need to attend one of our weekly Saturday adoption events. You must be present at the event to adopt a dog. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-approved applications are required in order to adopt at the event.

We start marketing our available dogs and puppies BEFORE they arrive in CO to work on finding them their forever homes as quickly as possible and to decrease the amount of times they have to be moved around. Most of our dogs and puppies are NOT in CO when they are posted on the website.

ADOPTION FEES***:

Why aren't rescue dogs free?
Because it takes a lot of time and money to get them to our rescue, vetted and ready for adoption. You are not paying a fee for the puppy, but rather a fee for all of money that went into the dog to get it to us, fostered, vetted and ready for adoption. All of our adoption fees include: age appropriate shots, a free vet exam and discounts at our partner vet clinic, and 30 days free of pet insurance.

Why is there a price range for each adoption category?
Adoption fees can vary slightly per dog based on their breed. The more desirable breeds will have a slightly higher adoption fee on a tiered system. Bronze- $25 more, Silver- $50 more, Gold- $75 more

Unaltered Puppies (5 months and under)
$500 to $575- Our puppies that arrive unaltered are not going to be fixed since research shows that fixing them before 5-6 months is detrimental to their health and development.

Altered Puppies (5 months and under)
$550 to $625- These puppies arrive to use already altered!

Young Adults (6 months to 1 year)
$500 to $575

Adults (1-5 years)
$425 to $500

Older Adults (5-8 years)
$375 to $450

Seniors (8+ years)
$300 to $375- Occasionally fee decrease will apply here on a case by case basis

Step 1 – Fill Out An Adoption Application
Please fill out an application online, which can be found under the adoptions tab. Applications must be filled out in full and electronically signed or we will not review them. Please allow us 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you. You will receive an email back from us letting us know if you are able to adopt or not. If you fill out an application less than 24 hours before one of our adoption events, do not expect to get a response back from us before the event.

Step 2 – Placing a Dog or Puppy on Hold
We are able to hold one dog or puppy per approved applicant to give you the first chance to meet and hopefully adopt that puppy. Dogs on hold will only be held for the first hour of our adoption event from 10-11am. After 11am all dogs will be available on a first come first serve basis. A dog is not on hold for you until you have received a confirmation email back from us letting you know that your application has been approved and you have confirmed that you will be at our adoption event to meet your chosen dog.

Step 3 – Attending an Adoption Event
Our adoption events are held every Saturday from 10am-1pm at Petco (2211 S College Ave) and our AAAR office (1721 W Harmony Rd Unit 102). Occasionally we have them at different locations, so keep an eye on our social media pages for more info! If you have a dog on hold a volunteer can help you locate that dog and you get the next hour to socialize with that dog and decide if it is a good fit. If you do not have a dog on hold, you are welcome to come meet our dogs that do not have holds on them, but dogs with holds will not be available to meet until after 11am. Volunteers will be happy to answer questions and help you introduce the dog to your current dog(s), kid(s), etc. Once you are ready to adopt there will be more paperwork and an adoption fee. Be prepared to take your pup home with you that day!

Step 4 – Adopting
Even though you have already submitted an application online, there will be more paperwork required to make the adoption official. You will need to complete all of the required adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee. ADOPTION FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE.
