My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Colin is approximately 1 year of age, around 50 pounds, neutered and fully vaccinated terry mix. He is working on potty, leash & crate trained. Soon he will be a pro at all three!

He is very affectionate & tender along with a playful side. Colin gets along well with other dogs, adults and children alike. Given his young age he should be able to learn your family’s routine rather quickly and become part of the gang in no time!!!

Colin was found on the streets unfortunately; surviving only on garbage. One of our rescuers fed him whenever possible; until one day he followed her home. Thankfully, FHSTJ was there at the right place and time & intervened April 2024.

Colin has a lot of love to give and longs for a family who can provide him with the affection and attention he craves. He definitely deserves a warm and loving home where he can feel cherished as a member of the family!!!

We take great care in being sure that each adoption is a good fit for both the animal and the adopter. Once the adoption is finalized, after a 1 week trial period, we follow up with the adopter (sometimes more time is needed) making sure that the pet is well adjusted to its surroundings and its new owner.
We also ask that they take the adopted pet to their Vet to have the pet checked out even though we have done so prior to the adoption.

We have adoption events almost every weekend. Our Adoption events take place at Petco & Petsmart, our adoption partners. We also participate in other adoption events in the city of San Diego, CA, i.e., the Doggy Street Festival (at Liberty Station) as well as all the events sponsored by the Animals Support Foundation, that take place in Grossmont, San Diego.

More about this rescue

The greater Tijuana area of 3 million people and thousands of abandoned street animals needs more individuals doing rescues and organizing neighborhood spay events. FHSTJ Does not run a shelter. Instead, it supports grass roots organizations and individual rescuers. This allows us to serve many more animals at any given time, due to this unique system of support. This is accomplished by giving financial support to rescuers and groups which could not function without the generosity of FHSTJ donors.
In summary, we support street rescues, mass spay and neuter clinics, pet owners with extremely limited resources needing veterinary care for their animals as well as public education programs, adoption programs for rescuers, and a pet food distribution program for animals in need.
