Here's what the humans have to say about me:
They say what doesn`t make you weak makes you stronger. Shine has lived through some tough times with his owner who suffered a life hardship, landing Shine in the shelter. But.Shine as he does, he was quickly welcomed to comfort and easy living in a foster home with a couple of fur friends that look a lot like him. He loves the relaxed lifestyle and especially loves basking in the sun when he can, and listening to and watching all the beauty of nature. Indoors he’s well housetrained and makes his own comfortable spaces off the furniture, dressing up any home’s decor.. His pigeon-toed front feet will appreciate not having to deal with flights of stairs. As a well tenured guy he knows all his P’s and Q’s like sit, stay, lay down, and speak and he’s always a good friend to everyone, although he’s not met cats as of yet. He even knows a little about staying in a crate in case you’re traveling to friends, you can take him along. Shine is aging gracefully and his wellness care while in foster is being sponsored by ClassicCaninesATX which means a full set of records are available. Interested in making Shine a member of your family? Reach out on his link to connect with his foster provider.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
