My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Chiquita was brought in by her previous owner.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Chiquita is no banana. Chiquita is a fancy, beautiful dog who wants to go to a home where she can be the diva of the household. In return she will be a loyal, loving family member who will want to cuddle. Chiquita can be fearful with new people and situations so going slow with her at first is very important to help her gain trust. She has one mesmerizing light blue eye and one soulful brown eye. She has perfect little eyebrows that look like a makeup artist did them but they are all natural Chiquita! Her face markings frame her smiling face. Chiquita wants to live in a cat-free house, and she will do best with adults or older children (10 years old+). She is an active lady who needs lots of protected outdoor space for playing and good inside space for roaming room to room. She will walks everyday for exercise and so her neighbors can admire her beauty. With your patience, respect and understanding, she will learn to trust and become a loyal family member who will want to cuddle with you, go on car ride adventures, keep her space free of any and all intruders and be your diva buddy. Want to give her a good home? If so, bring a strong leash and check out the stunning Chiquita who is no banana at our Escondido Campus.

At SDHS:
Chiquita is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
