My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Merry~
I was found along with my sister wandering confused and fearful in traffic. There is a healing wound on my neck and abraded hair that seems to indicate I was tied up or forced someplace. I am very cheerful in spite of my previous life and am the first to start playing every morning, but only know how to play by wrestling with another dog and chewing on a large nyla bone.
My foster Nana thinks I was a backyard dog who was ignored and then abandoned. She doesn't understand how anyone could ignore such a sweetie as me and is hoping I find a home where my new family will take the time to teach me how to play with people and balls.
I really love people and attention, and am in the slow process of crate training because I am curious about everything on top of the counters, trash cans, and shoelaces (typical teenage doggie, so somewhere under 2 years old). My kisses and wagging tail are very enthusiastic so am also learning not to jump on all my new friends. I have taken pretty well to doing my business outside because I know I'll get a treat and lots of praise! I bark at my reflection and train whistles and ceiling fans as I am a silly gurl and need reassurance that everything is OK. My new family needs to understand that I've had a rough life in the past and take new things slowly with me with gentleness and kindness. I have lots and lots of love, cuddles and kisses to repay them with!

More about this rescue

Pawmetto Lifeline, formerly Project Pet, was founded in 1999. Since the opening of our adoption, medical, and boarding facility in Spring 2012, we have been able to save more than 15,000 companion pets from euthanasia and gave them a new lease on life. We continue to strive toward the goal of a no-kill community and state through adoption, pet retention, rescue partnerships, and medical services.
