My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CARTER
Carter is a 3–4-year-old, 77-pound, sweet, snuggly hound boy! By DNA, he is roughly equal parts bluetick, redbone, treeing walker and Plott hounds. Even though he looks and sounds like a bloodhound, he does not have any bloodhound in him and his personality is all coonhound! So, if you love coonhounds, you can get almost all of them in one package with Carter! Carter lives in a foster home with male and female dogs, and gets along well. He is unknown with cats. He does not have the best leash skills. The good news is that he has gone to training for this and has gotten MUCH better at not pulling so much! Carter needs a 30-40 minute walk every day to stay happy and healthy. He loves the water and will take a dip in even a small tub of water! His only issue is with containment. He can climb his foster mom’s 5-foot “no-climb” ranch fencing. He can most likely get over any 5-foot fence. It is unknown if he can climb a 5-foot BLOCK wall. For his safety, he would do best in a home with a 5-6-foot block wall AND 5-6-foot gates. If interested in Carter, his foster mom will discuss fencing options with you. Carter is also a door darter, so he will need to go to a home with older children who know not to leave gates and doors open. He is also jumpy and a bit mouthy, so he can knock down little kiddos. We are looking for a hound-experienced adopter with secure containment, and children 12 or older for our big, sweet hound boy. If you are interested in adopting Carter, please go to our website and fill out an application https://docs.google.com/.../1SnhudHYFJaPfZyCeKy36.../edit, and his foster mom will be in touch with you. Carter’s adoption fee is $300.00.

• A signed, dated and completed adoption application.
• A home visit prior to the adoption.
• The adopter must be capable of caring for the dog emotionally and financially in the long-term.
• The adopter should have a fenced yard.
• If a renter, the adopter must be able to provide documentation from the landlord explicitly stating that pets are o.k.
• If the adopter lives in a shared-wall environment, SoAZBR needs assurance that a barking, noisy beagle is permissible.
• The dog must have accessed to a heated/cooled house during the day.
• The adopter must contact SoAZBR if they can no longer keep their dog.
• The adopter will keep SoAZBR as a secondary contact on the dog's microchip information so that we may assist in reuniting beagle with owner.
• The adopter assumes all financial and legal responsibility for the dog upon signing the adoption contract.

SoAZBR does not conduct on-site adoptions at pet events. SoAZBR does not conduct adoptions for dogs as gifts. We require that the entire family be involved in the adoption of the dog.
