My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harold is a sweet, loving, 5-year-old terrier/schnauzer mix with big soulful eyes, a lean body, and the personality traits of a border terrier. He is well trained, knows many commands and loves his training time to learn new tricks. Harold always asks if he can come up on the sofa with you before joining you for an evening of TV! He is ideal for someone who enjoys interactive time with their pup and quiet time together.

Harold does have a few behaviors which he is working on and has made very good improvement against. He has been known to jump fences when he is bored, so he needs companionship and a secure yard with a 6’ fence. Although Harold is good with other dogs when introduced properly, he does exhibit leash aggression toward other dogs. Positive reinforcement from mindful handlers aware of his triggers and surroundings when out for walks has produced steady improvement which should be continued. He is also doing better with his symptoms of separation anxiety as he is now getting used to his crate when left alone for short periods.

Harold has had a couple of biting incidents in his past when startled or cornered. Since working with Harold to give him regular attention and managing his environment there have been no further incidents of biting.

Harold would be best matched with a dog-aware owner capable of providing the consistency, environment and positive reinforcement he needs. A home without young children - where older kids and adults can respect his need for space, but give him the affection he craves is important for Harold. His intelligence and food motivation will help him continue his steady improvements.

With dedication and the right environment, Harold is proving to be a sensitive and loyal companion.

Harold is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.

More about this rescue

Forever Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We receive dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters. All of the dogs are housed in private, loving foster homes or a kennel in the greater Seattle area. We assess their behaviors and health and help them relax during their transition to a forever home. The dogs remain in foster care or in our kenneling facility until they are adopted. All of the dogs are/or will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on routine vaccinations.

Forever home dog rescue is not a shelter and thus you cannot see the dogs without an appointment.

We need foster homes! Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure yet about which breed or if you're ready for the long-term commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent. A foster dog placement can be anywhere from two weeks to several months. We provide any dog supplies you may need and cover all necessary medical costs for your foster dog. You provide the love and attention and bring the dogs to adoption events at least twice per month.

Interested? Send us an email at fhdrwa@gmail.com and we'll send you a foster application. It's lots of fun and you will meet lots of dogs and other people who love dogs.
