My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Roxie! I may be a senior, but don't let that fool you. I'm as spry as ever, with a heart full of love to give. I'm sweet, friendly, and I've got a knack for understanding human emotions. I love quiet moments, like curling up on a cozy couch or enjoying a gentle walk. I'm also quite smart, if I do say so myself. I've mastered the commands 'sit' and 'speak', and I always take treats gently - manners are important, after all! But I've got a secret to share - I love being the center of attention! I would be happiest in a home where I'm the only pet. Life in the shelter isn't bad, but I know that a home with a loving family is where I truly belong. I promise to bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love to your home. So, how about it? Will you give a sweet, smart senior like me a chance?

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
