My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mandarin, a kitten with a personality as unique as her name. Despite her tender age, she possesses a spirit of independence that sets her apart. She's a bit shy, yes, but that only adds to her charm. Mandarin is a quiet observer, preferring to watch the world around her with curious eyes. She's not one to demand attention, rather she's content with her own company. But don't mistake her independence for aloofness; she simply values her personal space. Yet, when she does seek your affection, it's a heartwarming moment that's worth the wait. Her gentle purr and soft nuzzle are her ways of saying 'I trust you'. Adopting Mandarin means welcoming a friend who will respect your space, while offering her own brand of quiet companionship. Give Mandarin a home, and experience the unique joy of earning the trust of a reserved kitty.

More about this shelter

The Stone County SPCA was organized in 2009 and opened a shelter in 2012 in Wiggins, MS. We have always been a no kill shelter. Our biggest challenge is the high demand to place dogs and cats in our shelter. Currently, we take in approximately 1200 animals annually. We do not euthanize animals for lack of space. We have a live release rate of 95%. We do this by keeping adoption fees low and transporting a large percentage of our animals (65% of our dogs and puppies).
