For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Meet Cornell, a 7-month-old mixed breed with a heart full of potential and a gentle soul that is still learning to trust the world. Cornell was found as a stray, along with his sister. Unfortunately, it is likely Cornell did not receive any socialization prior to being found, as he can be more on the fearful side. However, with the right family who can offer him time and patience, he is ready to bloom into the loving and loyal companion he is meant to be. Cornell may be shy at first, but once he warms up, you'll see the playful and affectionate dog inside. Cornell loves other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with another friendly and confident dog for him to learn the ropes of "dogging" from, as well a calmer, more quiet home environment. This sweet boy is making progress every day, with the help of his shelter dog friends, gentle encouragement, and positive reinforcement, and is waiting for the right home to continue this. Come meet Cornell and see if you're the one to help him write the next chapter of his life, a story filled with trust, happiness, and forever friendship!

Additional adoption info
We encourage everyone interested in adopting a new pet to come visit the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter to view the wonderful selection of cats, dogs and small animals we have available for adoption. When you see an animal you are interested in, come in as soon as possible as we are first come, first serve and are unable to place HOLDS on pets over the phone.
Speak to an Adoption Counselor at our Adoption Center regarding your interest to adopt and they will advise you of the Hold and Adoption process. All pets adopted from our facility are microchipped, spayed or neutered and vaccinated for Rabies prior to being released to the adopter. This is required by Texas State Law for any animal adopted from an animal shelter or rescue group. We do allow out of area adoptions as long as the selected pet is old enough to receive these services prior to being released to the adopter.
