My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome young man is Stetson. Stetson's approximate birthday is in November 2022. We believe Stetson to be an American Pit Terrier/ Labrador Retriever mix, though he is a rescue, and exact age and breed cannot be guaranteed. Stetson currently weighs around 50 pounds, but that doesn’t stop him from being his true lap-dog self! Stetson is at the perfect age to build a bond with his forever family.

Fall in love with Stetson: https://youtu.be/RTzSuSm5tCM?si=2R9qRcDjfHaJxIHr

Stetson is good-natured pup who takes everything in stride. He has a warm, friendly, cuddly temperament. He loves his humans and is gentle around kids. Stetson’s play style can get a little bit rough and tumble for the littlest of our little ones, so we’re recommending him for a home with kids over ten years old. Stetson can take a moment to warm up to new people in new environments, but once you’ve won him over, he’s 100% snuggles, sunshine and fun. He is playful and will play hard, but quickly wears himself out, then a quick nap is in order. He might need some time to adjust in a new home, but once he warms up he is affectionate and a very sweet cuddler. If you're looking for a sweet boy with a gentle temperament, look no further, here is your bundle of joy!

Stetson is crate trained and doing so well with his house training. He has made the connection between needing to go outside to potty and letting me know his need. He walks very well on a leash and enjoys going for walks along the beach or on the trails. He loves to be outside exploring and is at the perfect age to load himself up in the car for an adventure. Stetson is a quick learner and a very good listener. He likes to make his humans happy so he follows commands well. He loves to run in the backyard while playing with his toys. His Kong and activity ball are two of his favorite toys. Stetson loves to go out to eat at pet friendly establishments. He uses that time to take a little nap while you visit with family or friends. Stetson is still in his puppyhood, and needs a family that has time to spend with him so he and his new family can learn and grow together.

Stetson is very social and knows being a sweet boy is the way to get hugs and kisses. He loves to have visitors at home and loves to meet new people while out on outings. If you need a snuggle-bug to lay with you on the couch while watching a good movie, he'll be right there! Stetson’s perfect forever home is feline-free, he’s a little too interested in cats for our behavior team to recommend him as a cat-friendly dog! Stetson needs a well-fenced backyard, and at least one adoring human. He would be happy with some human siblings over ten, and doggy siblings of any age or size! Stetson is independent enough to thrive as an only dog, too!

If you’ve been looking for your pittie baby, a dog that will get along well with your kids and other dogs, Stetson is your guy! We are willing to test this dog with anything you need us to in order to ensure he’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
