Meet the Pet
Meet Lela. She is approximately 5-6 months old. She was found as a stray and is thought to be a Border Collie mix. Lela has been in a foster home since she was around 17 weeks. Immediately her foster Mom noticed a problem with the way she walked. After an exam and x rays it was found that Lela had a broken hip. She had an extensive surgery to shave down her femoral bone and reattach her butt muscles. It has been almost 5 weeks since her successful surgery and she is doing amazing. She still struggles jumping a bit, but her foster Mom believes with time she will be able to. She is finally ready for her forever home. Lela is a very very smart, sweet, happy girl. She is 100% potty trained in her foster home and knows a few commands like sit and speak. She loves all people....men, women, and children. She also loves other dogs, but can have some jealousy issues sharing bones and toys. For a puppy she is not high energy. She loves and needs a nice walk, but is very content laying on the floor chewing a bone or a toy. She also loves to be outside. She is very content just laying in the grass or by a campfire with you. Lela is not so much a snuggler despite her love of people. She prefers to sprawl out on the floor, on a cool spot, or in her crate alone. Yes she is crate trained and she does great. She often goes in there for nap time without being coaxed. She sleeps in her crate every night. She is still a puppy and she is still in the chewing phase so she needs a lot of supervision with that. If she can get it, it's fair game. She loves to play fetch, chase and jump after grasshoppers, and even play wrestle a little bit. She will make any family a wonderful addition. When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. We look at each and every application that comes into our rescue in attempts to make the perfect match! This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website www.onedogatatime.us.
