Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Firstly, he’s a miniature sheltie. I didn’t see an option for that but wanted to be clear. We got him from a couple that had an unexpected litter on Whidbey Island, and I adopted him for much the same reason you are looking.
He’s incredibly sweet and timid, about a year old. No aggression at all, but he has over the top levels of anxiety. I think our apartment life here in Capitol Hill has been too overwhelming for him, he can’t handle it. When we have him inside, he stays in his crate and is too scared to come out except to briefly get food and water. I think because we’ve taken him outside, which he does not enjoy because of the sounds and smells, he has begun to associate us negatively.
We spoke to a behaviorist about his anxiety, and I believe what he needs is an enclosed backyard area and a fresh start somewhere less urban. He will need a lot of patience. I want to emphasize that his anxiety is not really normal even among anxious dogs.
