Only completed applications that meet requirements will be reviewed. Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only approved applications will be contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. Veyron is being fostered near Lebanon, MO & you must be able to drive to that area for a meet & greet/adoption.
Veyron was a "left-over puppy" from his litter. He & a few of his siblings were surrendered to rescue when their breeder was unable to sell them in a timely fashion. He got a clean bill of health at his vetting appointment & is ready to find his family!
We like to remind applicants that a new puppy is a lot like a toddler. It is imperative that applicants understand that Veyron is a trip hazard! He has no idea how to get out of the way of feet. Puppies need to be supervised, and the best way to do that is to have a dedicated space set up for them. This area will be a part of the home where they can see activity & observe, but it is a place that is puppy proofed. Where they can play, lounge, or nap when their family is not directly engaging with them. Playpens, 4-squares, or x-pens are excellent tools to make this possible. They are easily mobile if you want to move them around, too.
We are open to discussing an x-pen if you do not have a fenced yard. Veyron is not leashed trained and will need secure containment immediately. If you have a fence, it needs to be completely secure & enclosed, no gaps. Please take note of how tiny he is & know that he can quickly disappear into small spaces. NEVER EVER should a puppy be left in a yard without supervision, NEVER. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep your puppy off the stairs unsupervised. Additionally, please be aware of the stair railing & the distance between the spindles.
Veyron has had tons of fun in his foster home. He plays with the resident dogs, his best friend being a 5-month-old Cocker Spaniel who can handle the energy! He also has a little toddler friend. She is 1yo & has been around dogs since the day she was born. She knows appropriate play & her parents monitor her very very closely with the dogs. Veyron doesn't understand how tipsy she is and is sometimes too rambunctious for her. When one of the foster parents is not able to directly supervise playtime, Veyron has a safe space to go where he can still play & have fun without fear of hurting the tiny human or having her hurt him!
We are working on potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience, as puppies have a little puppy bladder. Remember, in a new home, a new environment means that new habits will have to be established.
Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility that requires oodles of time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt a sweet energetic little puppy. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first.
