My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Luca, the Adventure-Loving Cuddlebug! At a year old and 35 lbs, he has the personality of a lab in a compact body! Luca is a bundle of joy whose love for life is absolutely contagious! When he first arrived at his foster home, he was a shy, cautious little soul. But oh, how he has flourished! Luca has transformed into the ultimate cuddlebug, eager to snuggle up and share his unending love and affection.

Previously timid with the leash, Luca now bounds forward with newfound confidence, eagerly awaiting his daily explorations. His zest for life and boundless curiosity make every walk an adventure. Whether frolicking in a spacious yard catching frisbees or play-wrestling with a canine pal, Luca is happiest when active and involved in family activities. He is a fairly quiet dog; he barks outside when someone comes to the fence or inside the yard, but he doesn't bark inside....and we're not sure if his outside barking is because he's copying the other dogs in the home or if it's his own idea. If he's in his crate, he will bark to alert that he needs to go out, but otherwise he is quiet indoors.

Though a bit reserved around new faces, Luca quickly warms up to become a loving lap dog once he feels secure. For this reason, a home with another friendly and active dog would be ideal for him. Luca’s sociable nature shines brightest in the company of his canine friends!

Luca isn’t just about outdoor escapades; he’s equally content to stay indoors, showering his humans with affection and delighting in his toy collection. His gentle demeanor makes him a perfect companion for children, with whom he is always careful and sweet. He would be the perfect family dog, for children to grow up with.

One of Luca’s charming features is his adorable short, docked tail. We don't know if he was born that way or someone docked it at his birth. We did have a DNA test donated and Luca is a little mix of everything! He quite literally is a mix of (a small percentage each) TWENTY different breeds, a multi-generational mutt! If you're seeking a devoted, playful, friendly and loyal companion who is as enthusiastic about adventure as he is about snuggle time, Luca is your boy. Come meet him and let the adventures begin!

Luca has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heart worm tested, dewormed and is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He is ready to find his forever home!

* This dog's adoption fee is $200

Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/.

The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.

We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
