Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🏆Meet Barksdale! As we all know, this Champion Pup has a gold Medal in Archery and is hoping to compete in the Paris Olympics! Whenever he is not competing in a tournament, he is winning the hearts of all who meet him! 💕
🍿 If you are a homebody and looking for a snuggly lap dog to help you binge watch everything on Netflix! Barksdale is the pup for you!
📣All about Barksdale 📣
Cats: Have not been able to observe. No cats in the foster home.
Other dogs: Barksdale seems to do well with dogs his size. He does not care too much for large dogs.
Children: Barksdale has so far done well with my 4-year-old niece. He also does well with our 11-year-old and our teenager in the home.
Adults: Barksdale can be a little nervous when meeting new people. He can be reserved and fearful at first. However, he quickly warms up to you and is SOOO snuggly. Barksdale is a "Velcro" pup, he loves to be by your side.
Crate Training: When we are home, I am not enforcing the crate. However, for his safety he is in the crate if we need to be out of the house. However, the crate is available to him at all times if he chooses to go in. A box crate is suggested if crate is used at all, as he likes to chew the metal ones and gets his little face stuck.
Potty Training Progress: Barksdale is doing well with potty training and will need consistency to help with continued success. He does better outside when accompanied with a human. He does not like to be left out alone. He is responding well to positive reinforcement. He wears belly bands indoors...JIC!
Other things to know about Barksdale:
He is still learning to walk on a leash. I highly suggest a fenced yard and that he never be unsupervised. Once fearful of outdoors....to now he wants to be outside with every opportunity! A fenced yard will give him a safe space to explore.
