My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Pepper was brought in by her previous owner.

Why Pepper is the one for you:
Pepper is a friendly senior girl who loves walks and playtime. Her name may sound a little spicy, but we promise she's very sweet! Her prior owner stated that she is house-trained and crate-trained and "very loving." She is known as a "Houdini-dog," meaning she's an impressive escape artist, so it will be important for her to have a secure yard or be well supervised when off-leash. Our trainers recommend that she go to a home without any feline friends or young kids (under 10), but she may do well with another friendly adult dog. If you're ready to give Pepper the loving home she deserves, grab a leash and collar and head to our Escondido Campus today!

At SDHS:
Pepper has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
