Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kota, our stunning Pitsky girl, was transferred to H3 from the El Reno shelter. Her notes say that the environment was so overwhelming that she wouldn't eat.
We didn't get much information about her past, only that she'd spent her life in a yard, watching life pass by from a distance.
When she arrived at Husky Halfway House, it was clear to Jenni that Kota's spirit was still fragile but beginning to mend. But she needed the experience of a real home to truly heal and blossom.
Enter her foster family, who opened their hearts to her about a month ago, and Kota has already transformed. She's learned that beds are soft, hands can be gentle, and each day can bring a little more love. Every night, she curls up right next to her foster mom's head, soaking up the warmth and safety she's never known. She's finally discovering what it feels like to be loved.
Kota is, without a doubt, one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. She loves to be held. In fact, she craves being held and cuddled, finding a particular joy in being snuggled like a baby, -all 57 pounds of her.
According to her foster family, there are days you can see just how happy and thankful she is to be there but then her face will change. As if she is thinking of her past and it makes her so sad. But her foster family is there, reminding her she's safe now.
Kota gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, but she really lights up around people. She's waiting for a family who'll wrap her in love, a place where she'll never feel alone again. If you're searching for a loyal, loving companion who's as sweet as they come, Kota is here. Ready and waiting for her forever family.

More about this shelter
We are committed and wholeheartedly dedicated to providing family and emergency services involving rescuing, sheltering, fostering, vetting, adoption and transportation of
"at risk" or "death row" husky and other large dog breeds.
Our goal is to not only provide these services in larger facilities than we currently have but also to use our resources to educate and raise public awareness on the benefits of properly caring for and keeping their pets and/or adopting from shelters and not shopping from breeders.
Our mission is to share our knowledge on the pro's of spay and neuter, the cons of backyard breeding and provide sound advice and services that help the community manage their day to day with their furry family members. Together, we can greatly reduce the number of unaltered, unvaccinated animals in our communities and put a dent in the homeless population by providing access to family services as well as spay, neuter and chip id programs.
