The Garden puppies are a litter of 5 month old Basenji mixes who are blooming with love for their forever homes! This litter was born in our rescue to Mama Poppy who was a petite Basenji mix. We suspect Mama got into the garden beds with several dads, as the puppies all have very unique, but still adorable looks! The puppies currently weigh between 20-22 pounds, so we expect they will be in the medium-large weight range when they are fully grown. The remaining litter is 1 girl and 1 boy. Looking for a pop of floral accent in your home? Bring home a bloom today!

Blue (M): Blue is a happy go lucky puppy who wakes up every morning ready to make the day even better than the last! He is happy to play with his siblings but is also content sitting back and taking in his surroundings. While he may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, his emotional intelligence is amazing and he will impress you with his boundless loyalty and love. Blue loves placing his head gently on the lap of his foster parents as they give him scratches and kisses. Truly, Blue is a fan and rescue favorite (but don’t tell his sibs that). Blue will bring cloudless skies to your life, so bring him home today!

Indigo (F): Indigo may be little but she leads the pack in their daily romps around the yard! She loves her toys and shows off her fabulous zoomies with her foster siblings. Indie is more independent than some of her siblings and is content to play solo with a toy when her siblings are playing a little rough for her. Don’t get us wrong though, this gal loves to cuddle and will spend hours curled up in your lap as you dote on her. Indie is also very smart and has already started to pick up on potty training. Indie promises to bring color to your life if you bring her home!

The puppies sleep through the night in their pen before they wake up when their family starts the day. They get breakfast and then are herded outside for some playtime as the sun comes out. During the day, they alternate between playing in the yard, zooming around the house, chewing on toys, and snoozing in a pile. They eat lunch at 1 PM and have dinner at 6 PM. They each get some one-on-one cuddle time in the evening after their foster family starts to wrap up their days. After one last trip outside, they go back into their pen for bed. Hard work being a puppy!

The Garden puppies have been well socialized with dogs of all ages and sizes. They would be a fabulous addition to a home with a resident dog but could also thrive solo. They have been introduced to people of all ages and love getting cuddles from their adoring fans. We will be looking for adoptive homes prepared to continue their base of training and socialization to ensure they are well-rounded adults. If you are ready for a life of adventure, bring home a Garden pup today!

The Garden puppies are only an option for homes who have owned a dog previously, even if that experience is less recent. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
