Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hercules Hero came to us from Orange County Animal Care on July 5th after being confiscated from his home. He is 9 years old and weighs just under 16 lbs. Hercules Hero is a sweet little guy who loves to cuddle, walks great on leash, and has lots of pep in his step. He loves going in the car, jumps right in and lays down for the ride. If you are looking for a loyal
and fun sidekick, Hercules Hero is ready to be yours!
A volunteer took Hercules Hero on a solo outing and shared this rave review afterwards:
"I had a wonderful day with Hercules today. He was such a good boy and gave me lots of kisses. We went to Balboa Park and the bay, he was go go go the whole day and loved exploring! He took two good naps in the car. We ended the day with a pup cup, which he loved. He's such a sweetheart that he made it hard to say goodbye at the end of the day."
Hercules Hero then went on a new adventure: a two-week Frosted Fling! He enjoyed spending time in a home again while we learned a lot about him. His Fling Family reports:
"Hercules Hero is such a lovable guy! He loves to give kisses, is definitely a couch lounger, and loves to take naps all day, but don't let it fool you, he has the energy of a playful puppy when he's awake! He loves walks and is great on leash when walking.
Hercules Hero is deaf (except high-pitched noises), but we've learned that if you get in eyesight he is very responsive to a point in the other direction to redirect his attention. With this, he is an extremely curious guy! We've learned that it is best if you close cupboards and keep anything edible (including empty cans in the recycling) completely out of reach, as he is always looking for his next snack/treat.
After the first few days, Hercules Hero settled right in with our dogs and learned their personal boundaries. There were no reactive behaviors since, he just needs a bit to adjust. We've also surprisingly had no problems picking him up or redirecting him by taking hold of his collar, so that has been a pleasant surprise!!
I don't know if I would recommend him going to a home with cats, as he had to be monitored with our two cats. When he noticed them, he rushed over and barked at them.
Hercules Hero is very food motivated, so certain behaviors could likely be redirected, especially with someone who has experience with deaf dogs! Just to reiterate, he is the SWEETEST dog in general, he just has his own boundaries.
We have enjoyed getting to know this little guy and know that someone will be the perfect match for him!"
If you are looking for a cuddly best friend to spoon with all night, Hercules Hero might be the one for you! Stop by to meet this special boy between 10:00am and 3:00pm!
