My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Francesca. I am approximately 14 weeks old (07/05/2024). I am the cutest, sweetest girl you have ever met. My foster mom found me wandering around a Walmart parking lot by myself. She took me in the store to the customer service desk to inquire if anyone knew who I was or if anyone was looking for me. The answer was no. One of the employees told me people dump them there all the time. Sometimes the puppies are found wandering around the parking lot and other times, they are found in a basket just sitting waiting for their owner to come claim them. Just heartbreaking Francesca's foster mom thought. So, she picked up some puppy food and loaded her into the cab of her semi-truck. That was a month ago and a few thousand miles later.

Francesca is timid about meeting new people. Once she figures out the people are nice, she warms right up. She is dog and cat social. Her foster mom has been home these last few days, so Francesca has gotten exposed to horses and chickens too.

Francesca is looking for a family who has patience and time to work on her getting over the shyness. She would love to go hiking and even learn agility for she is very smart. She is all about road trips. Great traveling companion.

to begin her adoption, please request an application and submit a deposit. The deposit is refundable if anything should change with the adoption. The deposit is an indication of your intent of adoption.

More about this rescue

My name is Carla Carlton. We (my husband and I) are retired militay. He served in the Air Force for 25 years. We have always done comunity service. So, when we got ready to retire, we found a place we wanted to live and bought a home. Well, the town we lived in has/had a high kill shelter. This broke our hearts.
Around this same time, I met a lady who fostered for Friends of Homeless Animals, RI. One day I got a call from FOHA there was a poodle in our shelter and he was on the short list. I went and pulled him. Roie (FOHA), helped set me up to foster and list our orphans to adopt with families who really wanted them. I am not sure how long ago it was, 16-18 years, I think. The rest is history. Through them and Mountain Pet Rescue, CO (and a few others in CO, UT, IA, IL, OR, CA, MS...), we have placed over 2500 dogs/ puppies and cats.
