Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Gashiki is a sweet, lanky old timer who loves attention, always greeting staff and visitors when they come through the door. He loves to lounge and hang out next to you or near you. He's very quiet and you might not always notice when he's joined you! He is unlikely to ever be a lapcat but he loved affection and might reward you with a snuggle.
Gashiki does really well with kids and would be fine in a home with careful, gentle children who would respect the needs of an older kitty. He has experience with other cats and is good with them, but can be a bit food aggressive when another cat tries to take his food. Who can blame him?!
You may have noticed that Gashiki's eyes make him look like he's squinting. He has a condition that causes his eyelids to turn inward, making his eyelashes and skin rub against the surface of his eyes. Fortunately, he is scheduled for surgery that will repair his eyelids. In the meantime, he is still such a loving, mild-mannered soul.
As a senior cat, Gashiki doesn't jump up to high places and would benefit from stairs and a nice heating pad. Contact us if you're ready to get all cozy with this calm, sweet and easygoing kitty!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
For further information or to meet Gashiki, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.
