MONTY
Monty was saved from euthanasia at the PG county shelter just in the nick of time. He arrived at the shelter as a stray with 5 other dogs and was only known as “Nameless" while there. While we don’t know anything about Monty's past, we do know that he was lucky to make it out alive because not all of the dogs he arrived at the shelter with did, due to the Prince George's County pit bull ban.
Buckle up because Monty is a trip! Yes, he’s beautiful, but don’t let that fool you because this guy has the brains to match too! Monty is crate and potty trained and LOVES scratches! Butt scratches, belly scratches, scratches on his ham hock head, he loves ‘em all!
Monty is learning basic commands (sit, stay, off, down, give, bed, crate) with a professional trainer which is being reinforced by his foster family. He's still perfecting his leash manners and while he does sometimes pull which his foster parents are working to correct, he will benefit from a firm handler who continues to set boundaries and will work with him to perfect his skills. Monty has met his doggie foster siblings and has been cordial and playful after proper decompression and slow introductions. He has also met the cats in his foster home and had waaayyy too much interest in them so we're looking for a cat-free forever home for him. Monty is very treat motivated and is eager to learn. He's a high energy dog who will benefit from long walks daily (at least 1-3 miles) and a fenced in yard where he has room to run and play. An energetic doggie sibling his size or larger would be ideal to help burn off his energy and be the most well behaved pup inside the house.
In summary, Monty is a big, squishy, meat head with the most loving eyes who loves to just melt in your lap and can’t wait to spend his life adventuring with his forever person(s)!
