Meet Maddie!

We would love for you to meet this beauty! She is such a special dog. She is a TRUE mutt. We have no idea what her breed is and we wouldn't be surprised she is a super mutt with anything from shepherd to pits to some small breed dogs. She is the perfect medium size dog in the mid 30s and a young adult dog who is NOT very active but active enough to be happy on walks, runs, hikes or even dog parks but also thrive in a home with a yard. We can see her doing well in an apartment seeting as long as her adopter is looking to take her off leash places (once trained for recall) so she can run and have fun.

Maddie is SO loving. She is truly a great dog who does GREAT with all dogs and just wants to be friends, I mean if somebody wants to bossy or be a bully to her she won't have it and is not a push over but she is not interested in any shenanigans but be friends and have fun. She also ADORES humans from men, women and children alike.

An ARWOB volunteer spend some time with Maddie in June and this is what she had to say:

......'Maddie was very excited and energetic when she first arrived to the adoption event, but it didn't take long for her to settle in and relax. She's literally the perfect size, <40-45 lbs, and I could see her DNA test coming back as primarily blue heeler/cattle dog and pit being the second breed. I saw the best qualities of both breeds in her.

She needs more practice walking on a leash, but was catching on quickly in the short time I was with her. I didn't experience any leash reactivity despite there being other leash reactive dogs at the event, but she managed those interactions well and did end up meeting a few new dogs from ARWOB with no issues. With more training and socialization on a leash, I would expect Maddie to have 0 leash issues in the future and her to be a very fun dog to walk with.

She was in the process of learning how to sit and it was very obvious that she'll be easily trainable as she was eager to please and she appreciated all of the 'Good Girl!' positive reinforcements as well as treats and pets for rewards. Maddie seemed to really crave human attention and interaction as she leaned or rubbed on me on many occasions. She was very sweet and gentle with the several kids that we interacted with during the event, so could fit into a family setting with kids of any age. '.......

We would LOVE to find an adopter for her and in the meantime perhaps a foster home.
Maddie has not been cat tested and we suggest a foster to adopt trial with her if you have kitties at home. Foster to adopt trials for any reason are GREAT as it allows adopters to really get to know the dogs before they adopt.

More about this rescue

The A.R.W.O.B. group is based in San Diego, CA and operates mostly in Mexico as well as Southern California and will come to the aid of any animal in need which crosses our path. Our belief is to do what we can in order to “Make a difference in their lives.” From experience we have observed and feel the companion animals of Mexico are in the greatest need and accordingly we focus much of our efforts in Baja, Mexico. However, we certainly extend our help to our north of the border critters by accepting relinquished family pets, exiting both dogs and cats from the shelters of San Diego and of course by working in conjunction with other animal rescue groups in the community
