My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Grizzle, the goofy-looking Mastiff mix who's ready to steal your heart with his charming looks and playful personality!

Grizzle is a big, lovable goofball who thinks he's a lap dog. He absolutely adores neck rubs and will happily snuggle up with you any chance he gets. His silly expressions and quirky antics will keep you laughing and smiling all day long.

Despite his initial wariness of new people, Grizzle is making great strides in meeting new friends with the right introduction. He's the perfect companion for someone who can give him the patience and positive reinforcement he needs to feel secure.

Grizzle's ideal home is with an experienced dog owner who can continue to help him build his confidence and navigate his "stranger danger" moments.

Grizzle has a fondness for stuffies and loves chasing balls, and playing exuberantly with his little sister. With a slow introduction, he would likely do well with new dog friends outside of the home. Grizzle enjoys his walks and prances like a little deer, taking in all the new sights.

Prospective adopters must submit and have their applications approved before meeting Grizzle, as his nervousness around new people requires controlled introductions. Walk-in meet and greets without an approved application will not be accommodated.

If you have the experience and patience to help Grizzle overcome his challenges, you will be rewarded with all the love he has to offer once he feels safe and secure.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort
