My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gertie is a lovely approximately 5yr old spayed female. Gertie is a special needs kitty because she has skin allergies. She is currently on an every other day medication (easy to give, not expensive) and a limited ingredient diet (she can’t have poultry, for example).

Gertie is sweet and playful. She likes looking out the window and loves napping on a pillow.

She was part of a feral colony, but was an outsider in the colony. She asked for help and we answered.

She has enjoyed becoming a house pet and is curious about other cats. We believe with a slow introduction she would be ok with other cats.

It is kitten season and it’s hard to find home for adults, much less one with special needs. Please spread the word about Gertie! She will be a great companion for some lucky person.

More about this rescue

Red Clay Animal Rescue is a small but powerful force in the collective effort to end pet homelessness and suffering in the Savannah area. We are a licensed nonprofit organization with 501c3 status.

We provide care on a small scale (a few animals at a time) to homeless animals with treatable injuries or illnesses, usually from within the regional shelter system, who would otherwise be euthanized.
These pets are fostered until adoption, or placed with other local rescue organizations.

An additional priority includes facilitation of shelter-to-shelter transfers (from high kill/poor live release rate facilities with no medical care, to facilities with very high successful adoption rates). These transfers very frequently require that the pets receive some medical intervention (sterilization, infectious disease testing, vaccinations) before transfer.

We also use our funds to donate to other rescue groups in dire need, and to shelter/animal control facilities with little or no resources when they need help.

100% of donations go to help animals in need.
