My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hiya!! My name is Rover and here's more info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Schnauzer mix

  • Age: 6 months approx.

  • Gender: Male

  • Weight: 13 lbs (6 kg)  (but will grow a bit more!)

  • Length (nose to butt): 38 cm

  • Height (paws to top of head): 28 cm

  • Current Location: Guadalajara, Mexico

RESCUE STORY - Sadly, I was left behind at a vet's office with my brother. You see, my mommy got pregnant but her owners couldnt keep two more doggies...I'm happy they brought me somewhere safe to be cared for and helped. The veterinarians took great care of me and I've had all my puppy shots so I'm now ready to find my furever home with good hoomans!

TEMPERAMENT - I'm just a playful puppy! My rescuers says I'm sweet but can be a little shy or reactive as I'm just a little guy in this big world. I love to play with empty water bottles and old socks! I'm not a noisy boy but sometimes I let out a bark if I hear a strange noise. I hang out all day with different people and doggies and my rescuers says I get along with everyone. I love getting love and am so cuddly. I am also very smart and observant - I know if I sit cute in the kitchen I'll probably get a treat heheh! I sometimes feel nervous when my rescuer leaves the house but I know they will come back and that makes me soooo excited!

ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate, classic puppy energy.

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yup! My rescuer says I behave excellent with kids.

    • same with ALL dogs, I should be supervised around children. My humans need to advocate for my space and make sure I'm respected :)

  • Dogs – I am friendly and so happy with other doggies.

  • Cats – Unknown

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I am still a puppy so these are a work in progress. I am much more timid/skittish in louder, busier environments. My adopter must be willing to provide me with some training and lots of patience :)

  • House trained – I know to go outside or in the backyard if I need to go potty. But I'm still a puppy and might need some time and training in my new home!

  • Crate trained – I know to stay quiet and sleep in a carrier. But more training may be required.

  • Car rides – I'm very quiet and brave in the car. But more training may be required.

Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am neutered and vaccinated.

  • NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
