NO SMALL CHILDREN
T Bird (aka Little T) is the most sensitive of the puppies. He is more sensitive to sound and new experiences and is more cautious. When he is scared he will hide. When he does, please do not go and drag him out or pick him up. Instead wait for him to come out on his own or encourage him with rewards. Making the decision himself will help him with his confidence and let him feel in control. Forcing him out only reinforces the insecurity. T will benefit the most from continued Puppy Culture training.
T Bird has been raised on Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive program for new puppies that aims to optimize a puppy's physical and mental developement. The goal of the program is to raise confident and healthy puppies. Since birth T Bird has been handled, touched, stroked, smooched on and doted over. He has had many experiences to different sights, sounds (thunderstorm, dogs barking, TV, train, vacuum, hair dryer, etc.) and surfaces (grass, carpet, rock, vinyl, water, stairs, balance board, etc). In addition, he has had many opportunities to meet different people and dogs and go to different places. He has been taught to explore and try new things, how to communicate with people through manding, how to be creative in his thoughts and approaches to challenges, and been exposed to grooming equipment. T Bird needs someone to commit to continuing the Puppy Culture program and will foster confidence in him and not feed his insecurity.
T Bird has been weaned on a raw diet and had his gut biome enhanced with a variety of different foods. Studies have shown this can help with gut health throughout the rest of his life.
T Bird does have a small umbilical hernia that can be repaired at the time of neuter.
T Birds adoption is $550. Here is what your $550 gets you:
1. Three rounds of vaccines (DAPP and bordetella), approx value $150
2. Complete wellness exam, microchip, and deworming, approx value $130
3. Spay and neuter reimburse, value $200
4. Puppy Culture training from birth to adopt, approx value $300+
5. Food to take home, approx value $20
6. A cute, snuggly, perfect puppy, value PRICELESS!
APPLICATIONS AT LEIASHOPE.ORG
PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application.
We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet.
Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
