Hi, I'm Texas! I'm a lovely calico who was found in, you guessed it, Texas! I had 3 kittens, and we were all brought up to Illinois to be fostered and then adopted. Now that my babies are old enough to be on their own, I am ready to find my forever home. I'm a sweet, gentle momma who does well with people of all ages. In the cattery, I am more of a cuddler than a playmate. I do well with other friendly cats, but I am a little intimidated by the bigger personalities in the cattery, so I mostly stay in my comfy bed unless someone comes to see me. I tend to hang back and wait to be approached, but I love it when people come in to scratch my ears and give me all the affection I deserve! If you are looking for a friendly cat to join you on the couch, I'm your girl! Apply to meet me today!

1.
Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

More about this rescue

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
