Meet Tapir, a young male mouse with a gentle soul and a penchant for burrowing. Tapir may be initially shy, but his sweetness shines through once he feels comfortable. He enjoys creating cozy nests and exploring his surroundings with curiosity. Providing Tapir with a suitable habitat is crucial, which includes a spacious cage (20"x40"is recommended) with plenty of hiding spots and 6"-12" inches of bedding material for burrowing. He also enjoys a balanced diet of seeds, grains, insects, fruits, and vegetables. Regular handling and gentle interaction will help Tapir continue to build trust and confidence. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.
